When God Calls, He Provides!

Have you ever felt called to something that seemed way beyond your abilities? Like God was leading you into deep waters, but you weren’t sure how you’d stay afloat?

That’s exactly how I felt a year ago.

The Need: A Dangerous Gap in Protection

When the war broke out, we jumped into action, equipping soldiers with helmets, ceramic plates, and winter gear. But as the battle raged on, something terrifying became clear: many injuries weren’t just from bullets or shrapnel-they were from body burns.

Soldiers were being hit by anti-tank missiles, IEDs, firebombs—and their standard uniforms weren’t protecting them. The IDF knew this too. They started issuing fire-resistant uniforms—but only to new recruits. That left thousands of reservists -combat soldiers risking their lives-completely exposed.

We had to do something.

The Struggle: No Easy Solution

I started searching for fire-resistant uniforms to distribute. But the cost? Outrageous: $550-$600 per soldier from the only Israeli manufacturer, $600-$700 in the U.S. before even before factoring in shipping. Soldiers were faced with an impossible choice: pay a fortune or risk their lives. I tried everything-looking for bulk orders and negotiating deals. I even considered shipping a container full of uniforms from overseas. Nothing worked. Then, a thought hit me. What if I manufacture them myself? But immediately, doubt crept in. “I’m not a soldier. Me? Manufacture tactical uniforms? I couldn’t even sew a button on straight! I don’t know anything about textiles or production. Who am I to think I can do this?” I felt completely unqualified.

A Word in Season

One day, in the middle of all this frustration, Eitan checked in on me. He saw I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and feeling stuck. I told him, “There’s so much need, but I don’t think I can do this. This is way over my head.”

Eitan just smiled and reminded me of a verse: "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank" (Proverbs 22:29). Then it hit me: You're serving the King. And if He's called you to this, He'll equip you for it." That changed everything.

I stopped worrying about my qualifications and started moving in faith. I dove in, armed with an iPad sketch and a whole lot of “No’s” from manufacturers. But I wasn’t ready to give up.

The Breakthrough: God’s Perfect Timing

Not long after, I went to pick up rainsuits for soldiers from a manufacturer in the south. I had been there many times before, but this time, something different happened.

A woman from the office told me, “My father wants to meet you.” Turns out, her father owned the factory. He had been hearing about our work and wanted to meet the mysterious guy buying all this equipment.

As we walked through his factory, I learned something incredible-his company specialized in fire-resistant clothing. They made protective gear for firefighters and industrial workers. Then he told me something that stopped me in my tracks. “I’ve been wanting to create fire-resistant uniforms for soldiers, but I needed someone to partner with—someone who could get feedback from soldiers on the battlefield. But I never found the right person.”

I laughed out loud. Because at that moment, I knew—God had orchestrated this entire thing. We shook hands and started working that day.

The Solution: Custom-Built for the Battlefield

For months, we worked closely with an IDF mobile unit-soldiers driving in and out of Gaza, fully exposed to enemy fire. They helped us refine every pocket, every seam, every stitch. Most uniforms are generic. But these?

Designed by soldiers, for soldiers.

Here are our uniforms! The photos were taken by a combat photographer who is a friend of mine. He really liked what I was doing and wanted to support our project, so he offered to take some pictures. The Impact: Your Support in Action Over 200 custom fire-resistant uniforms distributed. Over 500 tactical uniforms provided since the war began. Reservists no longer have to choose between their safety and their paycheck.

Why am I telling you this?

Not to brag, trust me. I’m still figuring out how to thread a needle. But to remind you that when God calls, He equips. And to thank you, every single one of you, for your support. Your prayers, your donations, your unwavering belief – it’s what made this possible.

Just last Thursday, I was at an appreciation event with the unit we helped. They were beyond grateful, and I got to share about why we do what we do. They asked that I pass along their heartfelt thanks to you.

Here I am (left) being honored by A., the officer whose unit we supplied.

The medal we were awarded reads: "With much appreciation, in recognition of your contribution to victory." The work isn't over. We're still facing uncertainty, and your support is still crucial. We want to keep loving our nation, showing them that believers are right there in the thick of it. Together, we're making a real difference. And honestly, it's been so rewarding. Stay tuned for more adventures!

Many blessings, Ruby
